Rockbridge Seminary’s academic programs are built on the fundamentals of the Christian faith but recognize that diversity of thought can exist in the Kingdom among those who seriously seek His truth.

Rockbridge Seminary offers three academic programs, plus a continuing education option. Each program is designed to help develop servant leaders for Christian ministry through learning experiences that allow them to study and practice without leaving their ministry field.

Master of Divinity (3 year program)

The Master of Divinity (MDiv) is a professional degree designed for men and women with a bachelor’s degree who serve or desire to serve in such roles as ordained pastor, career missionary, and chaplain. Students develop competencies in Biblical studies, church history, theology, pastoral care, counseling, and preaching/teaching. The curriculum may be completed in three years, although many students take longer due to family, church, and job responsibilities.

Master of Ministry Leadership (2 year program)

The Master of Ministry Leadership (MML) is a professional degree designed for men and women who have a bachelor’s degree and are serving on a church staff or in other ministry positions. The focus of this degree is on developing servant leadership skills for local church ministry. It is particularly suited for those who studied Bible and theology in their bachelor’s program. The curriculum may be completed in two years, although many students take longer due to family, church, and job responsibilities.

Diploma in Ministry Studies (2 year program)

The Diploma in Ministry Studies (DMS) is a non-degree diploma designed for men and women over the age of 25 who are serving on a church staff or in other ministry positions. The diploma provides an opportunity to students, not seeking a degree, to develop servant leadership skills for local church ministry, as well as competencies in Bible and church history. The curriculum may be completed in two years, although students may take longer due to family, church, and job responsibilities.

Continuing Education

The Continuing Education option is ideal for applicants interested in taking up to three courses (including the Touchstone Course, “Developing the Focused Life,” required as the first course for Continuing Education students). Continuing Education students must enroll in a seminary program before registering for their fourth course. Continuing Education students must take courses at the appropriate level of study (Continuing Education-Master’s or Continuing Education-Diploma). Continuing Education students are NOT audit students. Final grades will be transcripted as any other seminary program. Continuing Education students pay the same tuition and fees as seminary program students.

Auditing Classes

Rockbridge Seminary’s online course design is not conducive to auditing. Therefore, Rockbridge Seminary is not able to offer students the option to audit courses.
