Name: Carlos Garcia

Hometown: Minooka, Illinois

Academic Program: Master of Divinity

My family: Wife: Ruth. Kids: Anthony, Andrea, Carly, Christopher

My church: Minooka Bible Church

My ministry: I am the Worship Pastor at Minooka Bible Church, in beautiful Minooka, IL, a suburb of Chicago, where all political endeavors are above board… the only problem is that the board is on the floor… in the basement… seven levels beneath our fair city. But enough about that! I am grateful to be a part of a thriving church with the greatest staff this side of anywhere! But my most important and first ministry is my family: I am married to my high school sweetheart, Ruth (26 years) and we have four kids: Tony (20), Andrea (19), Carly, (13) and Chris (10). I will be working forever. Don’t even think about touching Social Security! I love being a Rocker! Great profs, great classes and so many awesome teachers (a.k.a. fellow students) to learn from! Let us continue to Rock on!

One word that describes me: Joyful

In my spare time: Running, reading, singing, family, Mahler, LOST, watching as many sunsets as I can, wrestling with my son Chris, cooking, movies…

Favorite Bible verse: The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. Zeph. 3:17

Spiritual hero: Ron Kopicko

Vision: God has created me to lead others to a deeper walk with their maker through the arts and teaching in the context of the local church. I want to inspire the body of Christ to grow, nurture and develop three relational priorities: 1. Relationship with God, 2. Relationship with God’s people, 3. Relationship with the world.

Why I applied to Rockbridge Seminary: It has been many years since my first Master’s degree and I have been looking to further my education while staying connected to family and ministry. I decided to try Rockbridge and have found the decision to be very helpful in moving towards my educational, ministerial and personal goals. This is very challenging, but well worth the effort; nothing is lost in the online learning environment. It truly is a personal, educational approach and the professors coach and guide the entire class with expertise and wisdom.

What I like most about Rockbridge Seminary: Each class features an opportunity to learn from your fellow classmates through online discussions. These classmates form a community of “professors” from all kinds of backgrounds and experience which greatly enhance and enrich the learning process. I have communicated with pastors who have been in the ministry for over 30 years, missionaries from around the world, business leaders, teachers… AMAZING! Each one brings his or her life story and learning to the Rockbridge experience. Educationally speaking, that Rocks!
